Investigation leads to arrest of Wal-Mart employees for theft

On Behalf of | Jan 1, 2013 | Firm News |

Theft is a serious crime in which a person’s property is taken without consent or by fraudulent means with the intention of depriving the person of his or her property. The Louisiana judiciary system has strict laws for felonies related to theft. A person charged with theft in Louisiana can face charges with long-term consequences.

The consequences are very severe if the accused is charged with stealing from his or her work place. In such a case, the accused may be denied future employment because of the theft conviction. Hence, an allegation of theft should be taken seriously and acted upon as quickly as possible. The accused should seek the help of a legal professional who is knowledgeable in that particular aspect of the law so that a strong defense can be built.

The legal professional can ensure that the rights of the suspect are protected as well as helping to get the suspect’s penalties dismissed or negotiate a plea. The professional may also present mitigating factors and make every effort to achieve the best possible outcome of the case.

Such a step should be taken for two Louisiana Wal-Mart employees who were arrested for stealing from the Wal-Mart in which they worked. According to sources, the two employees were involved in an alleged scheme of stealing Apple iPads from Wal-Mart.

Sources confirmed that the loss-prevention officers of Wal-Mart noticed that several Apple iPads were missing and they were investigating the loss. While investigating, the officers spotted the 33-year-old manager stealing iPads from locked cases. The other accused man, 51, was keeping guard.

The officers detained both men. The officials reported that they searched and seized numerous items from one of the manager’s houses. The accused were arrested for theft of property costing more than $1,500. If a person is accused of stealing, he or she should seek the help of a legal professional as soon as possible to ensure that the person’s rights are protected.
