Louisiana man facing sexual assault charges is hospitalized

According to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, penalties for simple battery and sexual assault range from jail time to mandatory registration as a sex offender. In addition to the potential harm to one’s reputation, these penalties show just how serious consequences from such charges can be and the importance of securing a competent criminal defense when necessary.

A 43-year-old Louisiana man is facing similar charges after being accused of allegedly trying to sexually assault two women. The man remains in custody for allegations of simple battery and attempted sexual assault. Generally, battery and assault both involve intentional offensive physical contact that is not consented to. When police found the accused man, he was suffering from a stab wound which required treatment at the hospital before he went to jail.

In cases such as these, it is important that a thorough investigation is conducted in order to prove that the allegations are true. Individuals charged with a crime have rights that give them the ability to obtain proper legal representation in order to make sure the necessary legal process is followed. The government must follow certain rules regarding how the prosecution performs its investigation, including how evidence is found and respecting an individual’s right to remain silent. An accused individual simply needs to request the assistance of counsel to invoke the right to representation that they deserve.

It is important for those facing criminal charges, like the man in this incident, to be aware of their rights. A solid defense may help find flaws in the prosecution and assure that the proper process was used throughout the investigation.
