Drug possession and related drug charges are treated very seriously in East Baton Rouge. If a person is caught and placed under arrest due to alleged drug crimes, it can have a significant influence on their lives and the lives of their families. They can be subject to a loss of freedom, hefty fines and the stigma of having been convicted of being involved with drugs.

A 32-year-old man who has a felony conviction in his past was arrested on numerous charges after law enforcement officials executed a search warrant and found firearms, marijuana and methamphetamine with related paraphernalia. According to police, they had received information as to the man’s activities. This prompted an investigation. He now faces multiple charges related to drug possession, distribution and his possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.

A key for a person who is arrested on any kind of drug charges is to formulate a sound defense. Having representation that is experienced in how prosecutors work and the tactics they intend to utilize can be the difference between a long prison sentence, a plea bargain and an outright acquittal. Whether the crime is related to selling drugs, using drugs or firearms, the defendant has the right to a strong defense. For example, should an investigation reveal that a search warrant was improperly executed, it can lead to the state’s evidence being ruled inadmissible. A full investigation is imperative to determine whether the state’s case is as strong as the state claims.

In this instance, a man was arrested after law enforcement received information as to his purported activities involving drugs and weapons. When police conducted their search, they allegedly found drugs that they believe were intended for distribution. The man was placed under arrest. As a convicted felon, the man faces substantial charges in this case. Because of that, his first step should be to discuss his situation with an attorney experienced in criminal defense of drug charges.
