A 24-year-old man from Church Point was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Aug. 14. The accident occurred in Acadia Parish at the intersection of LA Hwy 95 and LA Hwy 365.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by State Police Troop I, the crash took place as a 41-year-old man, who was operating a 2014 GMC pickup truck, was driving north on LA Hwy 95 at the rear of a 2013 Ford Fusion that was being driven by a 19-year-old man. At the same, the 24-year-old man, who was on a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, drove south on LA Hwy 95. The driver of the Ford Fusion drove to a stop in order to turn left onto LA Hwy 365. For reasons that are not clear, the driver of the GMC pickup truck did not stop to allow the Ford Fusion to turn and tried to maneuver his GMC pickup to the left. The Ford was struck by the GMC, which rotated over into the southbound lane, striking the motorcycle.
The injuries sustained by the motorcyclist were fatal, and the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced him as deceased on the scene. The drivers of the GMC and Ford were both restrained properly in their vehicles and sustained no injuries.
